Reni Wati
Senior Specialist Contracts and Procurement

Meet Reni! Our Senior Specialist Contracts and Procurement. Reni joined three years ago after spending almost fourteen years as a miner in Indonesia.
After moving to the United States, Reni began her work as a Contract Specialist for a mining company in Nevada. Once she saw an open position at Hermosa that would help give her and her family the resources they needed, she quickly applied and joined the team. When Reni saw the position she said, “it felt like a blessing because I love doing what I do.”
After only two weeks here, Reni said “It was the most solid and supportive team I have ever worked with. I truly admire the teamwork and how everyone supports each other here.” In her role, her days are filled with issuing, managing, and closing contracts and Purchase Orders (POs). As a Specialist in Contracts and Procurement, Reni is responsible for both goods and services procurement. She supports the Manganese Study group, Manganese Decline, and Technical Services/Exploration/Drilling, while also managing all Rummel contractors for both Construction and Site Services.
However, her job is much more than issuing contracts and PO. She also manages risk, protects the company’s interest, ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and helps projects move forward smoothly and on budget.
Reni welcomes the challenges she may face with open arms because of the growth she experiences with them, “I enjoy the challenges. I continuously upgrade my skills and knowledge about the market.” She enjoys being able to interact with different people every day. Supply chain plays a very important role in supporting successful projects and that is exactly what Reni does. Reni and her team helped support the manganese decline on time and under budget delivery, a very notable accomplishment.
When asked what advice she would give someone looking to enter this line of work, she says, “Just do it! Mining is a very interesting world…It is a great ‘training center’ that shapes you into a stronger person.”
On behalf of the company, Reni has participated in many events, including the Nogales Quarter Marathon, site cleanups, and Giving Tree events during Christmas. Reni says she enjoys participating in these events because, “I want to show that we are here to help make the community better, and I believe a strong social license is very important for any company to operate.”
Apart from work, Reni enjoys baking, crafting, and traveling. She has visited 15 national parks and intends to grow that number. When she is not at work, you can find Reni at a campground or lost in the woods.
